CLINTON, South Carolina - Marist baseball won back-to-back games at Presbyterian on Saturday with impressive offensive performances across the board. The Red Foxes took game one by a score of 9-4, and came back even stronger for a 14-10 decision in game two.

- The Blue Hose got off to a good start with two runs in the first two innings, but the Red Foxes took control from the fourth quarter on.Â
- Multiple runs were scored because of errors by the Presbyterian infielders, but Gene Napolitano smashed a homer to right field in the sixth to start off his impressive day.
- Matt Rubayo batted in Robbie Armitage in the same inning to give Marist a 4-3 lead.
- Napolitano hit a single down to left field to drive in Taveras and Lazar in the seventh, and then batted in Taveras again in the ninth to extend the Red Fox lead to 8-3.Â
- Reece Armitage brought home Napolitano in the 9th to add on to the Marist score one more time.
- Ryan Cardona earned the win on the mound, pitching 4.1 innings and striking out five while allowing a hit and a run.
- Each of Presbyterian's pitchers gave up at least two runs to the Red Foxes.
- Marist batted .333 as a team, compared to .282 for the Blue Hose.
- Marist led wire to wire, scoring four runs in the first inning with RBI by Lazar, Frankie Gregoire, Robbie Armitage and Reece Armitage.
- The Blue Hose got on the board in the bottom of the first, but Taveras doubled to drive in Mike Casaleggio and then Lazar scored on a wild pitch to go up 6-1.
- In the third, Nick Cantone batted in Casaleggio and Robbie Armitage with a big single down the left field line.
- Marist scored six straight runs with RBI by Lazar, Taveras, and two by Napolitano to jump out to a 14-4 lead.
- The Blue Hose managed to score six runs in the bottom of the ninth, but the Red Foxes maintained their advantage to take their second game.
- Tony Romanelli was impressive on the rubber once again, striking out seven batters in 5.0 innings.Â
- Presbyterian played six pitchers, with the Red Foxes recording 11 hits and eight runs against the starter Jake Rice in 2.2 innings.
- Marist batted .422 as a team, led by Taveras with four hits and two RBI in six at-bats.
The series continues tomorrow at 2 p.m.
Alex Pansini will take the mound for the Red Foxes to start.
