Baseball Sweeps Series at Presbyterian

Conor McNamara Earns Save in Final Innings

CLINTON, South Carolina – Marist baseball (3-3) swept all three games at Presbyterian (1-5), capped off by a 7-5 win in the Sunday matchup. The Red Foxes went up 7-0 in the sixth inning, but as the Blue Hose began to inch their way back into contention, Conor McNamara took the mound and closed out the game for the save.

SUMMARY
  • After a quiet first inning, the Red Foxes loaded the bases and Matt Rubayo drove in Frankie Gregoire to put Marist on the board.
  • On the very next play, Brian Hart singled down to right field to drive in Gene Napolitano.
  • In the third, Napolitano earned an RBI single and sent Anthony Lazar home.
  • Presbyterian changed pitchers, but in the sixth Rubayo accomplished the same result and batted in Gregoire once again.
  • Reece Armitage collected a two-RBI single soon after that in the sixth, allowing Rubayo and his Robbie Armitage to score.
  • Lazar continued the scoring run in the sixth with a single to send home Hart and put Marist up 7-0.
  • Alex Pansini kept the Blue Hose scoreless through five innings, striking out four but eventually allowing a pair of runs in the sixth.
  • Presbyterian racked up three more runs and put themselves in a great position with loaded bases and only one out in the eighth, but McNamara entered the game and pitched 1.2 innings of relief and did not allow the Blue Hose to close the gap.
