FAIRFIELD, Connecticut – The Marist men's basketball team suffered a 59-44 defeat at Fairfield in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game on Friday night at Alumni Hall.
- Marist never led in the game. The Red Foxes scored just two points in the game's first 6:50, and Fairfield jumped out to a 16-4 lead at the 10:15 mark.
- The Stags led by as much as 13 in the first half, and took a 32-20 lead to the locker room.
- Fairfield scored the first seven points of the second half, and the Stags' lead reached a game high of 19 (39-20) at the 15:42 mark.
- A 15-3 run over a span of 3:54 brought the Red Foxes to within 45-39 with 8:09 left in regulation.
- With 3:19 to play, a layup by red-shirt junior center Aleksandar Dozic made the score 49-44. From there, Fairfield scored the game's final 10 points.
- Marist shot 1-for-9 (.111) from three-point range.
- Senior guard Brian Parker scored a team-high 16 points. He was the lone Red Fox to score in double digits.
- Senior forward Isaiah Lamb grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds.
- Marist had six assists and 17 turnovers.
- Jonathan Kasibabu had game highs of 22 points and 11 rebounds for Fairfield.
- Marist set season lows for three-pointers made and three-point percentage for the second straight game. In its last two contests, the Red Foxes are 3-for-26 (.115) from three-point range.
- Lamb's 10 rebounds were a career high.
- The Red Foxes are 1-11 when fewer than three players score in double digits.
- Marist has lost 12 straight road games at Fairfield. This was the Red Foxes' first game at Alumni Hall since 2000.
"We're not playing well," head coach
John Dunne said. "We didn't have enough toughness in the first half. I thought we showed some in the second half and had them on the ropes, but it wasn't enough."
- Marist is 12-17 overall and 7-10 in the MAAC. It was the Red Foxes' third straight loss.
- Fairfield is 9-20 overall and 6-11 in the MAAC. It was the Stags' second straight win.
Marist closes out the regular season on Sunday, March 3 against Rider at McCann Arena. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m., with Senior Day ceremonies beginning at 1:45 for the class of Parker, Lamb,
Ryan Funk, and
David Knudsen.
