RICHMOND, Virginia – The Marist baseball team (4-8) is set to take on Virginia Commonwealth University (11-3) in a brief, mid-week two game series. The team is scheduled to play one game on Tuesday, March 12 (6:30 p.m.) and one game on Wednesday, March 13 (3 p.m.).

- Over the weekend, Marist took on #14 East Carolina in a three-game series, in which they dropped all three games. They played one game per day on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
- In the middle contest, the Red Foxes took the Pirates to the brink for 12 innings but were unable to clutch out the win.
- Tony Romanelli pitched a season-high 7.0 innings in which he held East Carolina to two runs.
- The Rams are off to a hot start in 2019, winning 11 of their first 14 games for an 11-3 record.
- Virginia Commonwealth has won seven straight games heading into the series against the Red Foxes.
- In addition, the Rams have played very well in home games this season, going 6-1 at The Diamond.
- Paul Witt leads the team with a .434 batting average, and Liam Hibbits is right behind him with a .429 average.
- Justin Sorokowski leads the pitching staff with a 1.29 ERA in four starts. He has allowed just seven hits in 14 innings, and has 16 strikeouts.Â
The Red Foxes will continue their road trip, traveling back to North Carolina for a three-game series against North Carolina A&T State University. The first game is on Friday, March 15 and first pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. The subsequent games will be on Saturday March 16 at 3 p.m. and Sunday, March 17 at 1 p.m.
