Baseball Looks to Bounce Back at North Carolina A&T

Red Foxes Begin Third Series in a Week on Friday

GREENSBORO, North Carolina – The Marist baseball team (4-10) continues their 27-game road trip against North Carolina A&T (9-7) in a three-game series this weekend. The team is scheduled to play once a day on Friday, March 15 (4 p.m.), Saturday, March 16 (3 p.m.), and Sunday, March 17 (1 p.m.).

LAST TIME OUT
  • The Red Foxes took on Virginia Commonwealth University in a mid-week, two-game series on Tuesday, March 12 and Wednesday, March 13.
  • Marist dropped both games, losing 8-1 in the first game on Tuesday, and then falling 9-3 in the second game on Wednesday.
  • Matt Rubayo earned his sixth and seventh RBI of the season in each game to provide offense for the Red Foxes.
  • Robbie Armitage had a solid series, going a combined 4-8 at the plate with a double to lead the team, batting .340.
SCOUTING NORTH CAROLINA A&T STATE
  • The Aggies are 9-7 thus far in 2019, which includes a 4-2 mark at home.
  • They began the season hot, winning five of their first six games. However, they have been on a cold streak lately, and have lost their last two games heading into the matchup with Marist.
  • Most recently, they were defeated 3-2 by High Point.
  • AJ Hunt leads the team with a .290 average, two homers, and 12 RBIs. Although Branon Melendez is hitting .455, he is doing so in just 11 at-bats.
  • Michael Johnson leads qualifying pitchers with a stellar 0.96 ERA in 28 innings. He has held his opponents to a .225 average in those innings, adding 12 strikeouts.
