LAST TIME OUT
  • The Red Foxes fell to Hartford 8-3 on Wednesday after a sweep of Monmouth the previous weekend.
  • Senior Frankie Gregoire doubled and hit his MAAC-leading seventh homer of the season.
  • Senior Anthony Lazar hit his first triple of the season and drove in a run.
  • Starter Zane Kmietek went 3.1 innings, allowing just three hits and one unearned run.
Kapuscinski's Leadership
Though limited to 20 games, red-shirt junior Tyler Kapuscinski has been one of the team's most consistent hitters this season.

"I've grown close with the guys I've been playing with the past four years," said Kapuscinski. "It gives me motivation to play with more of an edge and motivate others since they won't be coming back next year."

The designated hitter boasts an average of .377 with 26 hits and two home runs. His 13 RBIs are the fifth most on the team despite his limited playing time.

"Heading into Canisius, they were the number preseason pick. We had a tough go at them last year so we're looking to come back stronger this time around."

SCOUTING CANISIUS
  • On Tuesday, the Golden Griffins routed Kent State 13-2. Right fielder Cole Hollins led the way with three hits and six RBIs, and he hit his first home run of the season.
  • Left fielder Dylan Vincent added three hits and three runs scored. Center fielder Mark McKenna added two hits, three runs, and an RBI.
  • Starter Andrew Fron tossed five innings and struck out five, while only allowing two hits, one walk, and one run.
Coach's Outlook
"It'll be an interesting series. One thing we've done is responded after we've had tough days," reflected head coach Chris Tracz. "They've always bounced back, so we're hoping for that again this weekend against Canisius."

UP NEXT
The Red Foxes will head to Binghamton for a mid-week, non-conference matchup on Wednesday, April 17. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
