Baseball Wins at Army

Red Foxes Catch Fire for Huge Third Inning

WEST POINT, New York - Marist baseball (18-20, 7-5 MAAC) won their annual game with Army (24-17, 11-6 Patriot League) for the second straight year by an 11-5 decision. Niko Amory led the Red Foxes with a leadoff homer in the top of the third to spark a seven-run inning.
 
SUMMARY
  • Niko Amory started off a huge third inning with a solo homer, and the Marist lineup proceeded to bat around as Amory came back for a two-run double.
  • Robbie Armitage, Reece Armitage, Gene Napolitano and Matt Rubayo all added RBIs as the Red Foxes took a 7-0 lead.
  • The Black Knights answered in the fifth with an RBI-single from Carter Macias to get on the board.
  • Reece Armitage smacked a two-RBI double to right field in the sixth to extend the Marist lead to 9-1. Frankie Gregoire and Randy Taveras scored.

  • Ryan Cardona closed out the game with a strong ninth inning and Marist went home with the win.
