Baseball Drops Series Opener to Rider

Reece Armitage Homers in Final Inning

LAWRENCEVILLE, New Jersey – Marist baseball (24-22, 12-7 MAAC) was defeated in the first game of the series at Rider (15-33, 6-13 MAAC) by a score of 9-2. The Broncs got ahead early, and did not let up as they tallied at least one run in each of the first five innings.
 
SUMMARY
  • Rider scored the first run of the game on a groundout from Riley Mihalik to drive in Joe Simone in the first inning.
  • The Broncs tacked on two more runs in the second and another in the third to take a 4-0 lead.
  • Frankie Gregoire scored on a sacrifice-fly by Matt Rubayo in the fourth to put Marist on the board.
  • The Broncs scored another run on a groundout in the bottom of the inning.
