POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Four Marist track athletes were named to the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Track & Field/Cross Country Teams as named by CoSIDA, it was announced Wednesday afternoon.
Hayley Collins, Drew Burns, Mike Kennedy and
Christopher Rivas each received the honor to cap off a successful outdoor season. Marist recorded four of seven total All-District honorees in the MAAC.
The Google Cloud Academic All-District Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletics and academics. The Red Foxes were named to the Men's and Women's District I First Teams.
A Dean's List honoree (3.60+ GPA),
Hayley Collins is studying Psychology and Special Education. The sophomore finished second in the women's 10k at the ECAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, recording a time of 35:47.99. The Connecticut-native also placed fifth in the 5k (17:18.23) at the 2019 MAAC Outdoor Championships, and eighth in the 5k (17:33.15) at the 2019 MAAC Indoor Championships.
Andrew Burns was a Dean's List honoree through his senior year while studying Information Technologies and Systems. During the 2019 outdoor track & field season, Burns held the second-fastest time in the league and also Marist history for the men's 800m (1:51.64). He was named the MAAC Male Outdoor Track Performer of the Week award on April 23 for that performance at the Bryan Clay Invitational. Additionally, Burns ran on the winning 4x800 relay at the MAAC Outdoor Championships, which finished in 7:47.45. He holds the school record in the 1k, and placed third indoors and fourth outdoors at the MAAC Championships.

Michael Kennedy graduated with a degree in Business Administration. The senior was a regular IC4A qualifier during his career at Marist, recording his best finish at the championships in 2018 with 10th place in the 10k. He collected a fifth place finish in the 5k at the MAAC Outdoor Championships with a time of 15:05.99. The senior was named to the 2018 Cross Country All-MAAC Team in October for finishing eighth at the MAAC Championships.
Christopher Rivas was the only male non-senior from the MAAC to make the team, completing his junior year with a Dean's List distinction while studying Business Administration. Rivas was a member of the scoring squad at the IC4A Cross Country Championships the past two years, and also was a member of the the NCAA Division I Northeast Region Cross Country Championships squad. The Connecticut-native finished 15th in the 10k (32:25.93) at the MAAC Outdoor Championships, and 14
th in the 5k (15:22.69) at the MAAC Indoor Championships.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if applicable) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in June.
