ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, New York - Marist baseball (22-21,10-6 MAAC) took down Saint Peter's (4-38, 2-14 MAAC) in the series opener by a score of 6-2.
Alex Pansini put up a perfect five innings before finally allowing a hit, while
Frankie Gregoire and
Anthony Lazar homered to drive the offense.

- Frankie Gregoire led off the second inning with a solo homer to left field.Â
- The Red Foxes maintained their 1-0 lead until the fifth, where Marist scored three runs on a wild pitch, a walk and a hit-by-pitch. Gene Napolitano and Brian Hart recorded the RBIs.
- Then in the sixth, Anthony Lazar smashed a home run to left field to drive in Patrick Lightner and give the Red Foxes a 6-0 lead.
- In the eighth, the Peacocks put a pair of runs on the board after Jesse Matos singled down the left field line for two RBIs.
- Zane Kmietek relieved Pansini in the ninth and closed out the game without allowing a hit.
- Alex Pansini did not allow a hit or a walk through five innings, and ended the day with just two runs and six hits over eight innings. He struck out seven. This was his second-consecutive eight-inning game.
- Frankie Gregoire went 3-for-4 with the home run, an RBI, a run scored and a walk. His eleven long balls are the most he has recorded in a single season, and he now has 35 in his career.
- Anthony Lazar went 1-for-2 with two RBIs, two runs scored, two walks and a home run.
Marist returns to Bard College tomorrow for a doubleheader against Saint Peter's. The first pitch of the first game will be thrown at noon.
