Athletics Announces Marketing & Communication Staff Changes

Alongi Promoted To Associate AD; Beale, Sahawneh, Speedling Hired

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist Athletics Department has announced a promotion and three hires in its Marketing & Communications Department.
 
Andy Alongi has been promoted to Associate AD/External Affairs. Alongi is a two-time Marist graduate who had served as Assistant AD/External Affairs since 2013. He previously worked as Assistant Sports Information Director for the Red Foxes from 2008-11. In his role, Alongi oversees marketing and sponsorship, in-game presentation, and the department's sports information and multimedia staffs. At the conference level, he is a member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Women's Lacrosse and Technology Committees. Nationally, is the MAAC representative for the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA).

"Over the last decade I've been fortunate to have been a part of the Marist Athletics Department," Alongi said. "Marist is a special place that has afforded me the opportunity to learn and grow professionally. I would like to thank Director of Athletics Tim Murray, Vice President for Student Affairs Deb DiCaprio, and the Marist administration for the opportunity to continue to do something I love at Marist. I'm thrilled to continue my career at Marist, and look forward to all the great things that are to come!"
 
  • Kyron Beale has been hired as Multimedia Coordinator. Beale comes to Marist from Radford University, where he had served as Digital Media Assistant for six months. He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina, where he was a student production assistant for Gamecock Productions.
  • Andrew Sahawneh will be the Red Foxes' new Ticketing & Marketing Assistant. Sahawneh is a Poughkeepsie native and 2019 Marist graduate with a degree in Business Administration. In his time at Marist, Sahawneh served as a student assistant in facilities, a camp counselor, and practice player for the Red Foxes' women's basketball team.
  • Steve Speedling has been hired as Assistant Sports Information Director. Speedling is a 2019 Marist graduate who served as a student assistant in the Red Foxes' Sports Information Office in all four of his undergraduate years. Speedling was a finalist for Marist Student Employee of the Year as a senior. He will be the primary contact for volleyball, men's & women's swimming & diving, and men's & women's lacrosse.

"This group of young professionals brings a dynamic and varied skillset that will help our team advance and elevate the Marist Athletics name and brand. I look forward to an exciting 2019-20 academic year watching our team continue to transform."
 
Over the last two years, Marist's Red Fox Network has tallied over 70 productions on ESPN through an athletic/academic partnership with School of Communication and the Arts and Marist's Center for Sports Communication. The Marist Athletics' Twitter and Instagram accounts ranked in the top 10 among Football Championship Subdivision schools in the 2018-19 school year, according to Skull Sparks.
