EDISON, New Jersey – Marist women's soccer goalkeeper
Abigail Renaud was selected as the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week for the week of August 26, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
Â
The award is the first in Renaud's career. She is the first Red Fox to be named the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week since
Francesca Guzzo captured the honor on October 1, 2018.
Â
In the season opener at Towson on Sunday, August 25, Renaud made six saves to keep the Tigers off the board in Marist's 3-0 triumph. Her first stop of the year came on an impressive dive to turn aside an open 18-yard shot. In total, the junior made three saves in each half.
Â
Renaud now has four individual shutouts in her time at Marist, and five total. Dating back to October 10 of last year, she has allowed just three goals in her last 636:54 minutes of action, spanning seven games.
Â
Marist plays two road contests in the week ahead, starting with Drexel on Friday, August 30 at 7:00 pm. The Red Foxes conclude the week at Delaware State on Sunday, September 1 at 1:00 pm.
