POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - Women's cross country won the Marist Season Opener and started off the season strong on Senior Day. Gianna Tedeschi earned a resounding victory in a time of 18:32.0 in the 5k.
 

HIGHLIGHTS

• Tedeschi led a squad of Hayley Collins, Gianna Mastromatteo, Alexandra Bartolotta and Denise Grohn to a dominant victory.
• Collins placed second with a time of 18:45.3.
• Mastromatteo backed them up with a personal best of 18:49.3 for third.
• Alexandra Bartolotta turned in a performance of 18:51.6 for fourth place.
• Denise Grohn rounded out the scoring group with a time of 19:13.0 for ninth place.

NOTES

• This marked the third year in a row that the women won the Marist Season Opener.
• The competition also marked the third consecutive sweep for both programs.

UP NEXT

The cross country teams will head north for the Siena Invitational on Saturday, September 6.
