Women’s Basketball Takes On Quinnipiac

Thursday Features Rematch Of Last Two MAAC Championships

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Marist Women's Basketball and Quinnipiac renew their rivalry with the first meeting between the programs in the 2019-20 campaign on Thursday, January 23 at 7 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
  • Behind 24 points from Rebekah Hand, including 10 in the fourth quarter, Marist dispatched Manhattan 71-66 on Saturday, January 18 at Draddy Gymnasium.
  • Grace Vander Weide supplied 12 points and nine assists, while Willow Duffell had seven points, 10 rebounds, and five assists.
  • As a team, the Red Foxes shot 52.8 percent, including 8-16 from downtown.

  • The three-time defending champions sit fourth place in the MAAC at 4-2, one game behind the Red and White. Overall, Quinnipiac is 7-8.

SERIES HISTORY
  • Thursday marks the 18th all-time meeting between Marist and Quinnipiac.
  • The series began in 1985-86, then resumed in 2013-14 when the Bobcats entered the MAAC.
  • Marist seeks its first win over Quinnipiac since December 3, 2015.
  • Both teams met in the previous two MAAC Championships in Albany, NY.

  • Vander Weide is 10th in the nation with 6.1 assists per game, and ranks 23rd with 92 total assists.
  • Rebekah Hand, the active leader in Division I in career free throw percentage, slots 15th in Division I this year at 87.8 percent. She's also 36th with her 18.5 points per game.
 
MILESTONE WATCH
  • After moving into 10th place all-time in scoring at Marist as well as eighth in field goals, Alana Gilmer needs eight buckets to reach 500 in a Red Fox uniform.
  • Rebekah Hand is two rebounds away from Corielle Yarde for eighth on the all-time list. She is also four assists shy of 300 for her career.
  • Vander Weide is six assists away from Lynne Griffin for sixth place all-time in Marist program history.
