Marist Closes the Season with One Final Dual Meet Before the MAAC Championships

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist swimming and diving team returns to Poughkeepsie for the first time in just over two months, for a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference dual meet against the Bryant Bulldogs on Saturday, January 25 at 11 a.m. Senior day ceremonies will take place prior to the meet, and will be honoring seven seniors who have had a significant impact on the program throughout their four-year careers. This is Marist's final dual meet of the regular season, so both teams will look to finish strong and head into the MAAC Championships with some momentum.

  • The seven seniors in the 2019-20 senior class, Raislan Aiken, David Gallino, Preston DeMarco, Michael O'Donovan, Jessica Miller, Julia Solin, and Juliet Nowak, have made a significant impact on the program throughout their time as Red Foxes.

  • Combined, they have won 61 dual meets throughout their careers.

LAST TIME OUT
  • The men's swimming & diving toppled non-conference foe Southern Connecticut State by a score of 193.5-104.5 on Friday, January 17. This was the fourth straight dual meet victory for the men's team, who remains undefeated in dual meets over the past two months.

SCOUTING BRYANT
Bryant's men's team is 4-4 so far this season. The Owls are coming into Saturday's meet a little cold, having lost their last 3 meets, most recently losing to Rider last weekend. Matthew Mays is a name to watch for Bryant, as he reset school records in the 100-yard and 200-yard back, and is a key cog in the 400-yard free relay an the 400-yard medley relay.

Bryant's women's team is 6-3 overall on the year, and 3-0 in their last three meets. The Owls have not won both ends of a dual meet since October 26th against Iona. Last time out, Bryant defeated Rider 159-122. A name to watch for the Bulldogs is Heather Wong, who dominated the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke as well as her leg in the 200-yard medley relay in her last meet.
