Women’s Basketball Travels To Monmouth

Red Foxes Gear Up For First Conference Rematch In 2019-20

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Aiming to build off of wins against Manhattan and Quinnipiac, Marist Women's Basketball hits the road to visit Monmouth on Saturday, January 25 at 2 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
  • In a rematch of the past two MAAC Championship finals, the Red Foxes took down the Bobcats 73-60 on Thursday, January 23 at McCann Arena.
  • Marist shot 53 percent as a team en route to its first win over Quinnipiac since 2015.
  • Alana Gilmer tied a career-high with 30 points on 14-25 shooting, which tied for the seventh-most baskets and attempts in a single game.
  • Rebekah Hand added 13 points, while Grace Vander Weide had a team-best 11 rebounds and seven assists.
 
SCOUTING MONMOUTH
  • The Hawks have lost seven of their last eight to slip to 5-13 overall, along with a 2-7 MAAC record.
  • Monmouth has lost three-straight, coming against Quinnipiac, Niagara, and Siena. The latter was a 51-39 setback up in Loudonville, NY.
  • Sierra Green continues to lead the team with 11.1 points per game.
  • Alexa Middleton (9.2 points per game and 8.4 rebounds per game) and Lucy Thomas (9.1 points per game and 7.4 rebounds per game) sit behind Green in scoring, though both are averaging double figures in MAAC contests.
  •  As a team, Monmouth scores 51.6 points per game.
 
WE MEET AGAIN
  • Monmouth is Marist's first rematch of the 2019-20 campaign.
  • The Red Foxes dispatched the Hawks 76-66 in the former's conference opener back on January 2.
  • Gilmer led the way with 27 points, a season-high at that point of the season, while Vander Weide and Rebekah Hand posted 15 and 11 points, respectively.
  • Marist shot 50 percent and assisted on 20 of their 28 field goals, while Monmouth drilled 48 percent of their three-pointers (12-25).
SERIES HISTORY
  • Thanks to the triumph earlier in the month, Marist is 25-20 in the all-time series.
  • The Red Foxes have won six consecutive over the Hawks. Monmouth's last victory in the rivalry came in West Long Branch, New Jersey back on January 2, 2017.
