Women’s Basketball Welcomes Saint Peter’s To McCann

Red Foxes Aim For Fifth-Straight Win Against Peacocks

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Fresh off its conference-opening win on Thursday, Marist Women's Basketball seeks a 2-0 start to MAAC play when it hosts Saint Peter's from McCann Arena on Saturday, January 4 at 7 p.m.
 
HOW TO FOLLOW
  • Tickets are available at MaristTickets.com. The game is CYO Night: children wearing a CYO jersey will be admitted for free, and a knockout contest will take place at halftime.
  • After the game, the team will sign autographs on the sideline.
  • Saturday's game will air on ESPN+, beginning at the top of the hour. Geoff Brault and Steve Eggink will provide the play-by-play and color commentary.

LAST TIME OUT
  • The Red Foxes captured their first MAAC victory and first triumph of 2020 with a 76-66 result over Monmouth on January 2.
  • Alana Gilmer paced the Marist offense with a season-high 27 points on 10-17 shooting, while Grace Vander Weide added 15 points, eight rebounds, and six assists to move into a tie for 10th place on the all-time Marist assists list.
  • Rebekah Hand scored 11 points and moved into fourth place all-time in career field goals.
  • Marist shot 50 percent from the field for the game, and assisted on 20 of their 28 baskets.
 
SCOUTING SAINT PETER'S
  • The Peacocks are 3-6 on the season. Saturday will be their first conference game of the season after the team was idle on Thursday.

  • Saturday will be the 52nd meeting in the rivalry, which dates back to 1983.
  • Marist leads the all-time series 34-17.
  • The Red Foxes carry a four-game winning streak into the matchup. In the lone dual between the teams last season, Marist won 62-42 in Jersey City, NJ. Rebekah Hand had a team-high 19 points.
  • At home, the Red and White is 16-6 against the Peacocks.
 
MILESTONE WATCH
  • Rebekah Hand needs two three-pointers to become the fifth Red Fox to reach 200 in her career, five free throws to tie Tori Jarosz for fifth, and seven rebounds to reach the top 10.
  • Vander Weide's next assist will move her into sole possession of 10th place in Marist assists. She is currently at 11. Up next on the list is Elise Caron (ninth – 315) and Corielle Yarde (eighth – 321).
  • Gilmer is three field goals away from reaching the top 10 in program history.
