ANNAPOLIS, Maryland – After one day of competition at the Eastern Conference Athletic Conference Championships, the women's swimming and diving team is currently in third place and the men's team is sitting in fourth place.
The Naval Academy is the leader on both sides of the bracket. Navy leads Marist's women by a score of 217.5-112, and the Navy men lead Marist's men 194-118.
- In the morning's prelims, Ahmed Sallam clocked in at 19.64 in the 50-yard free portion of the 200-yard free relay. This was the fastest time in the event in school history.
- Raislan Aiken took the gold medal in the 1-meter diving event, scoring 299.35 points.
- Michael O'Donovan came in first place in the 500-yard free prelims, clocking in at 4:29.60. He finished eighth overall in the finals, finishing with a time of 4:39.44.
- Adam Kapusta took fifth place in the 500-yard free, clocking in at 4:32.75.
- In the finals of the 50-yard free, Sallam placed fourth with a time of 20.58.
Day two of the event begins tomorrow at 10 a.m. with the prelims. The finals will start at approximately 6 p.m. The events include: the 400-yard IM, the 100-yard fly, the 200-yard free, the 100-yard breast, the 100-yard back, and the 200-yard medley relay.
