Women’s Basketball Embarks For Quinnipiac

Marist Plays Final Road Game Of Regular Season

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Marist Women's Basketball (22-4, 15-2 MAAC) heads to Quinnipiac (13-13, 10-7 MAAC) to face the three-time defending MAAC champions in the Red Foxes' final road contest of the 2019-20 regular season on Saturday, February 29 at 2 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
  • Marist increased its season-best winning streak to eight games with a 75-45 rout of Fairfield on Monday, February 24.
  • Offensively, Marist shot 50 percent from the field, assists on 20 of its 29 baskets.
  • Rebekah Hand led the Foxes with 20 points and 10 rebounds for her 16th career double-double. Alana Gilmer added 19 points.
  • The Red Foxes pulled down a season-high 47 rebounds, limiting the Stags to 16 first-half points and a 33.3 shooting percentage.
 
SCOUTING QUINNIPIAC
  • The Bobcats sit in a tie with Fairfield for third place in the MAAC at 10-7. Overall, Quinnipiac is 13-13.
  • On Thursday, February 27, the three-time defending champions beat Saint Peter's 70-69 on Paige Warfel's go-ahead free throw with 0.9 seconds left.
  • Prior to the victory, Quinnipiac had lost to Rider and Fairfield.
  • Shaq Edwards leads the team with 12.7 points per game.
 
WE MEET AGAIN
  • Back on January 23, Marist snapped a nine-game losing streak over Quinnipiac with a 73-60 win at McCann Arena.
  • Gilmer dropped a career-high tying 30 points on 14 buckets, the latter being one shy of the single-game program record.
  • Grace Vander Weide totaled nine points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists.
  • The Bobcats shot just 35.3 percent, including 5-20 from deep.
 
SERIES HISTORY
  • Marist and Quinnipiac meet for the 19th time in program history.
  • The Red Foxes look for their first regular season sweep of the Bobcats since the 2013-14 season.
  • Quinnipiac has a 13-5 advantage in the rivalry.
 
MAAC STANDINGS
  • Marist and Rider are tied atop the chart with a 15-2 MAAC record. Each team has clinched a top-two spot in the upcoming MAAC Championships.

  • Gilmer's .537 shooting clip leads all players this season, while Hand's .557 field goal percentage in MAAC play is the best in the conference.
 
NATIONAL NOTORIETY
  • Marist's 1.53 assist/turnover ratio is third in the nation, behind Oregon and Baylor.
  • The 20.3 assists per game is fourth in Division I as well.
  • The Red Foxes' .484 shooting percentage is fifth, and would be the highest in a single season for the Red and White.
