LUBBOCK, Texas – The Marist softball team earned a 10-1 victory in five innings over Fairleigh Dickinson in its final game of the Jeannine McHaney Memorial Classic on Sunday.
 
The Red Foxes' second game against Delaware State was called off due to impending inclement weather.
 

Summary

• Sam Freeland reached on a one-out single, and scored the game's first run on a sacrifice fly by Shea Walsh.
• Freeland reached on an error to start the third, and Claire Oberdorf followed with an RBI triple. Ali Milam followed with a ground ball back to the pitcher, on which Oberdorf scored after being caught in a rundown and eluding a tag.
• Fairleigh Dickinson cut its deficit to 3-1 in the fourth when Rylie Schmeh's two-out single scored Jillian Ward.
• Marist put the game out of reach with a seven-run fifth. Milam tripled on the first pitch of the inning, and later had an RBI double. Caroline Baratta delivered a two-run double in the inning.
