POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist women's swimming & diving team earned a 189.5-108.5 triumph over Canisius in its season opener at McCann Natatorium on Friday.
The Red Foxes had a trio of double winners in individual events:
- Emma Butzler captured both the 200 free (1:56.43) and 500 free (5:14.00).
- Jessica Freund won the 100 breaststroke (1:09.07) and 200 IM (2:12.94).
- In diving, Grace Reeves won the 1-meter (227.97) and 3-meter (252.45).
Additionally, Marist had 1-2-3 finishes in three events: the 100 breaststroke, 200 backstroke, and 200 IM.

After not competing in the 2020-21 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Friday's meet marked the first at McCann Natatorium since Jan. 25, 2020.
"It was great being able to compete at McCann in front of a great crowd," said first-year head coach
Anthony Randall. "I was really proud of how everyone competed today and how the energy on deck matched our intensity in the water."
The Red Foxes will return to action on Thursday, Oct. 21 at Fordham, with the meet scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
