Stefan Copetti scored a goal apiece to power the Red Foxes to a 2-0 victory over the Quinnipiac Bobcats on Saturday evening at Tenney Stadium.
The result boosts the Red Foxes to 5-4-1 overall and 2-0 in MAAC play. The Bobcats fall to 6-3 overall and 1-1 in the MAAC.
Marist struck first in the 69th minute, when freshman forward
Richard Morel laid it off to Conway, who found space in the box and fired it into the back of the net for his first goal of the season.
With less than five minutes remaining in the game, Copetti made a run down the sideline toward the net and blasted a shot near post past Quinnipiac goalkeeper Antreas Hadjigavriel to make it 2-0 and secure the win.
Marist outshot Quinnipiac 26-5; Copetti paced the Red Foxes with seven shots, four of which were on target. Senior midfielder Alex Holle led the Bobcats with three shots, two of which were on target.

Samuel Ilin recorded one save, while Hadjigavriel had eight saves for the Bobcats.
- The first chance for the Red Foxes came in the 14th minute, Copetti fired a shot at the near post that was scooped up by Hadjigavriel.
- Two minutes later, Morel ripped a shot on target that was saved by Hadjigavriel.
- In the 20th minute, Morel linked up with Copetti who fired his second shot on target, but Hadjigavriel made the save.
- The pair continued to put on the pressure as Morel laid it off to Copetti, who made a run towards net and ripped another shot, but Hadjigavriel made his third save in the 26th minute.
- In the 34th minute, Marist played a longball over the top to Copetti, who made another run towards net and blasted a shot far post that went just wide.
- Freshman defender Andre Cutler-DeJesus made a run up field, found space and ripped a shot towards lower left corner, but Hadjigavriel was there for the save in the 36th minute.
- Two minutes later, senior captain Justin Scharf made a run up the sideline and crossed it into junior midfielder Liam Salmon, who one-timed it on target, but Hadjigavriel made his sixth stop of the half.
- The Bobcats got their first shot of the game in the 51st minute, as Holle found space outside the box and fired a shot on target. Ilin was there to make his first save of the day.
- Two minutes later, graduate forward Kyle Galloway crossed it far post to junior midfielder Henrique Cruz, who headed it into the bottom corner. A Quinnipiac defender was there to make the block and kick it away.
- In the 60th minute, Copetti fired two shots; the first one was blocked by a Bobcat defender, but he got it back and ripped another shot that struck the right post.
- Marist had the advantage in shots (26-5) and shots on goal (11-2).
- Corner kicks also favored the Red Foxes 11-3.
- Possession favored Marist at 55 percent. The Red Foxes also spent 76 percent of their time in Quinnipiac's zone.
- Morel recorded an assist on Skylar Conway's first goal of the season, the first for the freshman.
- Copetti scored his fourth goal of the season.
- Copetti extends his points streak to six consecutive games. He has a goal in three straight.
- Conway scored his first goal since November 6th, 2019.
- Marist now has four shutouts on the season, and their first since September 11th.
- The Red Foxes have won their first two MAAC contests of the season since 2015.
- Saturday marked the first win against the Bobcats in program history. It also snaps a four-game slide for Marist in the rivalry.
- The Red Foxes remain home for a duel against Iona on Wednesday, October 6th at 7 p.m.
