FAIRFIELD, Connecticut – The Marist volleyball team's five-match winning streak came to an end on Sunday at Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference rival Fairfield. The Stags won in three sets, 25-14, 27-25, 25-12.
 

Summary

• After some back-and-forth to start the first, Fairfield was able to gain some distance on the Red Foxes thanks to a pair of 5-0 runs.
• Fairfield then scored the final three points of the first set for a 25-14 victory.
• Late in the second set, five straight Marist points – including back-to-back aces by Jaden Reasor – staked the Red Foxes to a 20-17 lead.
• Fairfield fought off a set point, but then so did Marist after a kill by Gabriella Heimbauer. However, the Stags took the final two points of the second set to prevail 27-25.
• The Stags led 6-5 in the third set, and broke it open after scoring four straight points. Fairfield won the third set, 25-12.

• Sasha van der Merwe and Gabriella Heimbauer led Marist with 10 kills apiece.
• McKinley Fox led the match with 27 assists.
• Morgan Owens and Jordan Newblatt had a team-high seven digs apiece for Marist.
• Fairfield's KJ Johnson had a match-high 17 kills.
• The Stags' Luci Albertson, Emily Schillinger, and Manuela Nicolini all tallied seven blocks apiece.

• Marist is now 17-11 overall and 12-5 in the MAAC.
• First-place Fairfield is 20-7 overall and 15-1 in conference.
