POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Marist programs saw a total of 11 teams achieve a perfect 100 percent Graduation Success Rate (GSR), according to the most recent Division I data released by the NCAA on Thursday.
Â
Marist had an overall GSR of 93 percent. The Marist programs that posted a 100 GSR score were men's and women's basketball, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's cross country/track and field, women's rowing, women's lacrosse, softball, women's soccer, and volleyball. For the purpose of GSR data, men's cross country/track and field is counted as one program, as is women's cross country/track and field.
Â
The total of 11 programs with scores of 100 GSR score is up by one from last year's data, and is Marist's best total in the last nine years. A 100 GSR score for 11 programs is tied for the second highest amount of teams with a perfect GSR ever for Marist Athletics. Marist had 12 teams with a 100 percent GSR in 2008-09.
Â
As a conference, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference averaged a 95 percent GSR score, which is equivalent to last year's data, and ranks tied for third among all 32 Division I conferences.
Â
The NCAA GSR report gives graduation information for students and student-athletes who entered college in 2014, the most recent class for which the required six years of information is available. It also breaks down the GSR by sport, using a four-year class average (2011-2014) called a cohort rate to provide a big enough sample. The GSR formula removes from the rate student-athletes who leave school while academically eligible and includes student-athletes who transfer to a school after initially enrolling elsewhere.
