ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey – Freshman forward Caitlin Weimar has been named MAAC Co-Rookie of the Year, while Head Coach Brian Giorgis has been named one of two recipients for "The Rock" Coach of the Year, the conference announced on Wednesday morning.

 
Weimar becomes the first Red Fox to be named Rookie of the Year since Rebekah Hand in 2017, and the fourth in program history, joining Hand, Erica Allenspach (2008), and Rachele Fitz (2007). The Cortlandt Manor, NY product splits the honor with Rider's Makayla Firebaugh.
 
Giorgis earns his eighth MAAC "The Rock" Coach of the Year award, most among coaches in conference history. This is the first time since 2013 he's earned the honor, and the third time he's shared the title. Marc Mitchell of Saint Peter's also shares the title this season.

• Weimar won a conference-best five MAAC Rookie of the Week awards this season, joining Rebekah Hand and Rachele Fitz as the only Red Foxes to reach that mark. She was a unanimous selection on the MAAC All-Rookie Team.
• The Hendrick Hudson product led all rookies and ranked third in the MAAC with a 48.8 percent shooting clip and 3.18 offensive rebounds per game.
• Starting all 17 games she appeared in, she averaged 8.6 points and 7.2 rebounds, the latter of which was ninth in the conference. She blocked 28 shots, the fifth-most by a MAAC player.
• Weimar snagged 58 rebounds in her first seven games, the most by a rookie in the Brian Giorgis era.
• The Cortlandt Manor, NY native recorded seven games with 10-plus points, five games with 10-plus rebounds, and four double-doubles. She scored a season-best 19 points at Niagara on January 23rd, and corralled a career-high 17 rebounds at Siena on February 13th.

• Giorgis entered the 2020-21 season after losing a senior class that accounted for over 75 percent of the team's scoring, 73 percent of the team's buckets, 72 percent of the team's three-pointers, 68 percent of the team's assists, and 60 percent of the team's rebounds from 2019-20.
• After being picked fourth in the MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, Giorgis guided the Red Foxes to a 13-3 MAAC record (15-3 overall) to win the program's 13th regular season title.
• Marist concluded the regular season with the MAAC's best scoring defense, allowing just 50.8 points per game (third in the nation), and ranked second in the league with 63.2 points per game on offense. The Red Foxes also led the conference in scoring and rebounding margin, field goal percentage, assists per game, and assist/turnover ratio.
• This year, Giorgis and his staff guided four All-MAAC selections, the highest number of Red Foxes on postseason teams since the 2014-15 campaign.
