Red Foxes, Stags Meet For Sixth Time In MAAC Tournament

ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey – Top-ranked Marist Women's Basketball seeks its 15th MAAC Championship appearance when it takes on fourth-seeded Fairfield in the MAAC Semifinals on Friday, March 12th at 11 a.m.

  • The Red Foxes improved to 19-0 in their first games in a MAAC Tournament under Head Coach Brian Giorgis with a 63-55 triumph over No. 9 Siena in the MAAC Quarterfinals on Wednesday, March 10th.

  • The Red Foxes have reached the MAAC Semifinals in 16 of Brian Giorgis' 18-plus seasons at the helm. This includes the 2020 semifinals that were not played due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • Lopez-Senechal then nailed a floater with less than three seconds remaining as Fairfield erased a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter to capture a 61-60 decision over Marist in the series finale. Trinasia Kennedy dropped a career-high 26 points with five three-pointers.
  • The Red Foxes are 4-1 over Fairfield in the MAAC Tournament. Marist won its 2010 and 2012 championships over the Stags in the final.
  • Both teams have faced one another twice in the semifinals, back in 2005 and 2015. Fairfield's only tournament triumph over the Red Foxes came in the 2017 quarterfinals.
