Editor's Note: Story updated on Wednesday, April 7 to reflect the pause end date being extended.
POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Due to the recent increase in COVID-19 cases on campus, Marist College has voluntarily enacted a campus pause. The pause that went into effect beginning 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 17 has now been extended until Monday, April 12.
Â
During this time, Marist's Division I athletic programs will be suspended. All scheduled contests will be called off.
Â
Marist's current COVID-19 case numbers remain well below the New York State guidelines that would mandate a transition to virtual learning. Nonetheless, out of an abundance of caution and to protect the health and safety of our community, we believe this is the best course of action to mitigate additional spread of the virus.
Â
The top priority of Marist College throughout this pandemic has been the health and safety of the entire campus community. The Marist Athletics Department has maintained strict compliance with protocols established by the NCAA, Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), New York State, and Dutchess County.
