POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist baseball team begins its 2021 season on Saturday afternoon, as the Red Foxes travel to Jersey City, NJ for a four-game series against the Saint Peter's Peacocks. The teams will square off in doubleheaders on both Saturday and Sunday, each beginning at noon.

- Last year, the Red Foxes were 3-9 overall against some tough non-conference opponents before the season was cancelled due to COVID-10. Marist did not get to play any MAAC games.
- Brian Hart was the team's leading hitter, batting .275 with 14 hits and five runs batted in.
- Reece and Robbie Armitage were the two Marist players who homered in the short season.
- Ryan Cardona paced the Marist pitching staff with 26 strikeouts and a 3.00 ERA in 21 innings. Alex Pansini led the Red Foxes in innings pitched with 23.2, and pitched to a 4.18. Erubiel Candelario struck out 22 batters in 22 innings and held a 4.09 ERA.
- Marist was picked to finish as the runner-up in the MAAC this season in the MAAC Preseason Poll. The squad received two first place votes, and finished only behind Quinnipiac.
- Tyler Kapuscinski (DH), Robbie Armitage (3B), and Ryan Cardona (P) were all named to the Preseason All-MAAC Team.
- Cardona received other recognitions, including being named PerfectGame.org's MAAC Preseason Pitcher of the year and Baseball America's top prospect in the MAAC.
- Alex Pansini was named to PerfectGame.org's Preseason All-MAAC Team.
- The Peacocks have played four games so far this season, and are 1-3 (all games played at home).
- Last weekend, Saint Peter's had a four-game set against Niagara, accounting for their 1-3 record. On Saturday, the Peacocks won their season opener on Saturday 5-0, but then dropped the second game later in the day and both on Sunday.
- Saint Peter's was picked to finish last in the conference by all 11 head coaches in the MAAC, and had no players selected to the Preseason All-MAAC Team.
- Andrew Connor is the Peacocks leading hitter so far this season, hitting to a tune of .444. Chris Marquart has the lone Saint Peter's homer in 2021.
- Ian Concevitch is coming off a complete game shutout in the Peacock's lone victory in which he struck out six and only allowed four hits. Ryan Wappaus is second on the team with five innings pitched and a 3.60 ERA.
Following the conclusion of this weekend's four game series, the Red Foxes will return to Poughkeepsie for their 2021 home opener on Wednesday, April 21 against the Siena Saints. The doubleheader is scheduled to begin at Noon at McCann Field.
