Marist Athletics Announces Senior Awards Presentation Schedule

Awards To Be Presented Virtually This Week

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Due to COVID-19 regulations, the Marist Athletics Department was unable to hold its Senior Awards Banquet. However, this year's awards will be presented virtually over the course of this week.
 
Here is the daily schedule:
 
Tuesday, June 15
Academic Awards
  • President's Academic Achievement Award – presented to the female & male student-athletes with the highest cumulative grade-point average.
  • Athletic Director's Award – presented to the women's & men's teams with the highest cumulative grade-point average.
 
Wednesday, June 16
Strength & Conditioning Awards
  • Advantage Strength & Conditioning Award – presented to the female & male student-athletes seniors who have shown the most commitment, dedication and leadership while exhibiting an exemplary attitude in the weight room. They are the heart and soul of their teams during strength and conditioning.
    • This year's female nominees:
      • Allie Best, basketball
      • Willow Duffell, basketball
      • Gianna Tedeschi, cross country/track & field
      • Nicole Sasso, soccer
      • Esabelle Gervasio, swimming & diving
    • This year's male nominees:
      • Clayton Barnes, baseball
      • Kevin Burke, football
      • Andrew Evans, lacrosse
      • John Oxner, tennis
  • The Team Strength & Conditioning Award will not be presented this year.
 
Thursday, June 17
Pizzani Awards
The James E. Pizzani Award has been given out to honor the life of James Pizzani, '64 since 1990. Pizzani, who was an advocate for Marist Athletics during his life, lost his nine-month battle with cancer in 1988. The award is presented to a male and female (does not have to be a student-athlete) who have contributed to the athletic department, both academically and socially, displaying community service and leadership, and has performed above and beyond all expectations.
  • This year's female nominees:
    • Boushra Belkhir, cross country/track & field
    • Allie Best, basketball
    • Delaney Galvin, lacrosse
    • Katelin Harris, water polo
    • McKenna Klineyoung, rowing
    • Nicole Sasso, soccer
  • This year's male nominees:
    • Sam Ahlgrim, lacrosse
    • Clayton Barnes, baseball
    • Murray Coueslant, swimming & diving
    • Jordan Jones, basketball
 
Friday, June 18
Sportsperson of the Year
The Sportsperson of the Year Award, presented annually since 1969, the longest standing award in Marist Athletics history. From 1969-1984, the award was given to the top individual in the class as a result of an outstanding career in his/her sport. Since 1985, the Sportsperson of the Year Award has been given to the top female and male student-athlete(s) in the class based on outstanding achievement in their sports.
 
This year, each sport will have the opportunity to present its own Sportsperson.
