MONTGOMERY, NY – The Marist men's cross country team packed in its top-5 runners within a tight compression of 27.2 seconds en route to a fifth-place finish at the Jasper Fall XC Invitational, hosted by Manhattan College at Twin Ponds at The Farm in nearby Orange County.Â
Redshirt freshman John Ignacz paced the Red Foxes with a 15th-place finish over the 8-kilometer course, in a personal-best time of 26:20.7, just edging out teammate Brendan Dearie, who was two spots back in 26:20.9. Freshman Gabe Rodriguez closely followed in 20th place with a personal-best time of 26:29.9. Junior Matt Hartman (24th, 26:37.5) and freshman Dylan Perkinson (28th, 26:47.9) rounded out the top-5 for Marist. Â
Chris Paxis, the Foxes' lead runner in the first two meets, did not race in Saturday's meet in order to prepare for next week's Paul Short Invitational, which will be held on Friday, Oct. 1 at Lehigh University.Â
