Natalie Kelchner and the Red Fox defense recorded a shutout as the Marist women's soccer team secured a 1-0 win against Canisius on Wednesday afternoon at Tenney Stadium.
The Red Foxes move to 2-0-1 in MAAC play and 3-2-2 overall. Canisius moves to 0-3-0 in conference play and 0-8-2 overall.
After a scoreless first twenty minutes, freshman midfielder
Autumn Smith served a corner kick into the box, which met Hendricks for her first collegiate goal. That goal proved to be the difference as Canisius was unable to get anything past the Marist defense.
Kelchner finished the game with four saves. Junior forward
Brooke Cergol paced the Red Foxes with three shots.
Canisius goalkeeper Jessica Jones tallied four saves on the day, and forward Tiana Fonoti led the Golden Griffins with three shots.
