POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist volleyball team returns to Poughkeepsie on Tuesday for its second home match of the 2021 season. The Red Foxes will host the Seton Hall Pirates, with first serve coming at 7 p.m. at McCann Arena.

LAST TIME OUT

• The Red Foxes split two games on the second day of the Harvard Invitational, defeating Merrimack but losing to Austin Peay. 
• Sasha Van der Merwe led Marist with 14 kills against Merrimack. She added seven kills and a team-high 12 digs against Austin Peay.
• Jordan Newblatt had a season-high 11 kills against the Warriors, and added 10 digs for her second career double-double.
• McKinley Fox combined for 51 assists on the day. She had a double-double against Austin Peay, adding 11 digs.
• Sally Tietjen had a career-high six kills against Merrimack, and so did Alyssa White with two kills.
• Anne Mahler had a career-high six assists against the Warriors. Seven different Marist players had an assist in the match.
• Lauren Lietzke had a career-high two service aces and two digs against Merrimack.
• Morgan Owens had double-digit digs in both games, totaling 27 on the day.
• Marist had a .354 hitting percentage in its win over the Warriors.
• Fox and van der Merwe were both named to the Harvard Invitational All-Tournament Team. 

 

SCOUTING SETON HALL

• The Pirates are 3-3 so far in 2021. 
• Most recently, they just went 3-0 and won the Fairfield Invitational last weekend. 
• Anna Holland is fresh off being named Big East Defensive Player of the Week. 
• Seton Hall was picked to finish 10th in the Big East this season, and sophomore Tsvetelina Ilieva was named to the Preseason All-Big East Volleyball Team.
• Perri Lucas leads the team with 58 kills this season. 

 

UP NEXT

• The Red Foxes will head to Fairfax, VA to compete in the George Mason Invitational. Marist will take on Robert Morris, UNCG and Morgan State, with the first match coming against the Bears at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 11.
