Volleyball Traveling In-State for Two Matches

The Red Foxes Looking to Sweep Iona and Manhattan for the Second Times this Season

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - Marist volleyball is coming off a 2-1 week, with wins at first-place Fairfield and at home against Niagara. They Red Foxes will be on the road this upcoming weekend to play Iona and Manhattan, two teams that they've already defeated earlier in the season.  They are now 8-3 in conference play and 12-9 overall.

  • Saturday, October 22 | 1 p.m. | at Iona
  • Sunday, October 23 | 3 p.m. | at Manhattan
Last Time Out
  • The Red Foxes took down Niagara in four sets on Sunday
  • In set one the Red Foxes broke open a 21-all tie with four straight points to take a 1-0 lead in the match
  • Niagara took the second set with a 25-20 win
  • Marist scored the first three points of the third set and never trailed, as the Red Foxes prevailed 25-18 to go up 2-1 in the match
  • A 7-0 run early in set four propelled the Red Foxes to a 25-20 victory, as Marist took the match 3-1
  • Jordan Newblatt and Gabrielle Heller each contributed a match-high 16 kills
  • Four Red Foxes notched at least 10 digs: Newblatt (match-high 19), Morgan Owens (10), McKinley Fox (10), and Jillian Hanna (10)
  • Alyssa White hit .889 (eight kills, nine attempts) and tied Vanessa Zolg for the team lead with four blocks
  • Fox led all players with 36 assists
Scouting Iona
  • Marist is looking for their second sweep over Iona, after their first one on Sept. 18
  • The Red Foxes won by scores of 25-15, 25-20, 28-26
  • The Gaels tied are second in the MAAC with Marist at 8-3 in conference play
  • Iona's three conference losses came from Marist, Fairfield, and Rider
  • The Gaels are coming off a 3-1 loss to Rider this past Wednesday Oct. 19
Scouting Manhattan
  • The Red Foxes will look for another victory over the Jaspers after their first one to open MAAC play on Sept. 17
  • Their last matchup resulted in a 3-0 sweep for Marist with the Red Foxes winning the three sets 25-8, 25-6, and 25-17
  • Manhattan is sitting in ninth place with a 1-9 record in conference play
  • The Jaspers are coming off a 3-2 loss to Saint Peter's.
Up Next
  • The Red Foxes will host Rider and Saint Peter's on Oct. 30 and 31, respectively.
  • After that the Red Foxes will play one next week, on Nov. 5 at Siena
