POUGHKEEPSIE, New York- The Marist women's soccer team defeated the Niagara Purple Eagles 1-0 on Wednesday afternoon. The Red Foxes then learned they qualified for the MAAC Championships six hours after the conclusion of their match due to three other results in the conference:

• Mount St. Mary's lost at Quinnipiac, and finished the regular season with nine points.
• Iona lost at Fairfield, and finished with 10 points.
• A goal in the 82nd minute enabled Manhattan to tie Saint Peter's, which gave the Peacocks a final tally of 10 points.
• The win over Niagara moved Marist to 3-5-2, and the Red Foxes were able to nab the sixth and final spot in the MAAC Championships with 11 points.
