Marist Falls to Quinnipiac in Hamden

A Two Goal Second Half Propels the Bobcats Over the Red Foxes

HAMDEN, Connecticut- In its third conference game of the season, the Marist men's soccer team fell to the Quinnipiac Bobcats 3-2 in Wednesday's rainy matchup.

Quote From Coach
"Unfortunately we didn't make the most of our chances in the first half and then we wobbled immediately after Richie went down in the second half. We clawed one back but couldn't find the equalizer late. It's gut check time and we'll see what we are made of Saturday night at home vs Siena. MAAC play is a different animal and we'll need to embrace all the things that come with it and find ways to get points," said Coach Viggiano

Summary
  • The Red Foxes struck first in the 14th minute off a goal from Hugo Guerra from an assist from Jared Juleau.
  • The Bobcats wasted no time as 17 seconds later, Tomas Svecula scored tying the game up at one a piece.
  • In the 38th minute, the Bobcats looked to take the lead, but goaltender Samuel Ilin made a huge save.
  • In the 51st minute the Bobcats tried to capitalize off a corner kick, two back-to-back saves from Illin was not enough as David Bercedo scored off a rebound, to give the Bobcats the 2-1 lead.

  • In the 73rd minute, defender Demarre Montoute sneaked one by Bobcat Goaltender Karl Netzell to narrow the Bobcat lead to 3-2.
