NEW ROCHELLE, New York - Marist women's rowing traveled to Glen Island Park in New Rochelle this past weekend to compete at the Fall Metropolitan Championship. Marist traveled with a Varsity 8, Second Varsity 8, Varsity 4, Freshman/Novice 8, and Freshman/Novice 4. Glen Island Park greeted us with sunshine and a brisk westwardly crosswind.
The regatta included crews from Iona, Fairfield, Sacred Heart, Fordham, Long Island University, and Marist.
The Varsity 4, consisting of coxswain
Ariana Novero,
Isabella Rivera,
Victoria Stout,
Sydney Macchia, and
Alexandra Gibeault, was the first Marist crew to tackle the conditions. A solid start put our crew into a stroke for stroke battle to the finish line where we ended .4 seconds behind second-place Long Island University.
Final Results: Fairfield 8:32.09, LIU 8:37.29, Marist 8:37.69, Fordahm 8:55.1, Sacred Heart 9:36.94.
The 2nd Varsity 8 consisted of coxswain
Emma Spiro,
Natalie Ronan,
Isabel Consavari,
Avalon Johnson,
Katie Beichert,
Jessica Zygmunt,
Jennifer Liguori,
Rebecca Paul, and
Emily Liguori. This crew also had a very good start, but struggled to establish a good rhythm after a rocky shift to race pace, which in turn resulted in a hard fought third place finish behind Sacred Heart and Fairfield.
Final Results: Sacred Heart 7:35.57, Fairfield 7:38.37, Marist 7:43.39, Manhattan 8:05.24, Fairfield B 8:12.2
The Varsity 8 consisted of coxswain

Lauren Muhr. This crew had good energy coming off last weekend's win and were eager to improve upon that result to end the fall season on a high note. Mission accomplished.

The Frosh/Novice 4 consisted of coxswain
Juliette Savarino,
Natalie Ronan, Katie Biechert,
Victoria Stout, and
Isabel Consavari. The race was respectable considering it was their first time in a boat together!
Final Results: Fairfield 8:26.71, Marist 8:40.34, Fordham 9:09.44, LIU 10:54.22.
The Frosh/Novice 8 consisted of coxswain Carina Pascucci,
Isabella Rivera,
Courtney Clark, Lacey Schatzel, Kaleigh Tompkins, Lilly Green, Caroline Egan, Charlotte Beer, and
Sydney Macchia. This crew, consisting of a mix of experienced and walk-on rowers, raced hard and continues to show great improvement and potential.
Final Results: Fairfield 8:05.1, Sacred Heart 8:09.5, LIU 8:17.5, Marist 8:23.6, Iona 9:25.6.
This concludes the fall racing season for the Red Foxes' women's crew.
