BUFFALO, New York - Marist Women's Rowing traveled to Buffalo, NY for a weekend full of racing. The team started off on Saturday with a dual against Canisius, boating a 1st Varsity 8+, 2nd Varsity 8+, Varsity 4+, 2nd Varsity 4+, and 3rd Varsity 8+. The Black Rock Canal provided fast and wet conditions with a consistent cross tail wind for all races.
The 1st Varsity 8+ consisted of coxswain Ariana Novero, Anna Fedders, Megan McGowan, Sophie Forster, Kora Eckelman, Natalie Ronan, Kaleigh Tompkins, Abby Deane, and Anna Coppola.
Results: MARIST 6:34.5, CANISIUS 6:51.9
"We came into today ready to attack the race and pop off the line right from the start. After a strong opening, we stayed composed and controlled through the middle, sticking to our plan. I'm proud of how we executed and carried it through to the finish!"

The 2nd Varsity 8+ consisted of coxswain Carina Pascucci, Amelia Nelson, Shelby McDougall, Anna Iannucci, Lillian Iannaccone, Gianna Angelucci, Caitlin Bartman, Elena Waldbillig, and Jenna Jaffe
"We had a new lineup going into this weekend, but we did a great job sticking to a race plan we discussed together. We were able to walk away from Canisius early in the race and we responded well to our planned moves and calls. Tomorrow we're looking forward to making some changes and improvements to our spring and overall ratio and having another good day!"

The 3rd Varsity 8+ raced with the 2nd Varsity 8+s, and consisted of coxswain Lilia Thomas, Elizabeth Klik, Ashleigh Coyne, Ella Manion, Stella McGinty, Maddie Fracasso, Charley Brown, Courtney Clark, and Elisa Huget.

The Varsity 4+ consisted of coxswain Grace Foley, Breanna Schwager, Katie Beichert, Cali Tigar, and Maddie Lombardi.

The 2nd Varsity 4+ raced with the Varsity 4+s and consisted of coxswain Brooke Dini, Sydney Macchia, Katie Beichert, Sophia Warburton, and Grace Stoner.
"The vibes before our race were really high! We went into it with positive attitudes and extra confidence knowing our race would be like practice, along our 1V4+. Right off the start we were tied for second, which gave us the opportunity to fight for our position. And the rest of the race we focused on keeping close to the lead 4+. Overall a strong race!"
