Volleyball Set Take On Rider for Quarterfinal at MAAC Championships

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York-The Marist volleyball team travels to Lake Buena Vista, Florida to compete in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship this weekend. The Red Foxes will square off against #7 Rider on Thursday at 4 p.m. After beating Rider both times in the regular season, Marist looks to continue that success into the tournament.

Regular Season
  • Marist went 18-10 and 14-4 in MAAC Play. This is the highest MAAC record for the Red Foxes since 2015.
  • Marist swept the regular season series against Rider in their two meetings this year. The first matchup Marist won in a close five set match on October 2nd.
  • Their second match took place on October 29th, where Marist beat Rider in four sets behind double- doubles from Sasha Van der Merwe (17 kills,14 digs), and Jordan Newblatt (14 kills, 20 digs).
  • McKinley Fox gave one of her best games of the season in the first matchup when she had 45 assists.
Scouting Rider
  • Rider finished the year with a 9-19 record and a 7-11 record in conference play.
  • The Broncs finished out the season with a loss to the number six seed Quinnipiac, losing three straight sets.
  • Morgan Romano and Tori Schrader led on the attack with 319 and 163 kills so far on the year.
Playoff Bracket
  • The winner of the #2 Marist and #7 will move on to the Semifinals to face the winner of #1 Fairfield or #8 Niagara on Friday November 18th at 12:00 pm on ESPN3/+.
  • The winner of both matches on Thursday will advance to the championship round on Saturday. The game is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
