Men's Soccer Ends Season With Win

The Red Foxes Tie Season-High With Four Goals

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - In the final game of the 2022 season, the Marist men's soccer team defeated Mount Saint Mary's 4-1 on Wednesday evening at Tenney stadium.

The Red Foxes will miss out on the postseason and conclude with an overall record of 7-6-4, and 3-4-3 in the MAAC.

  • "Proud of our response tonight to the disappointment of not being in the playoffs. It shows the character of the guys in the group. Our seniors should be proud they've never had a losing season at Marist. They will be missed and will always be part of our family," said Head coach Matt Viggiano. 
     
Summary
  • In the 11th minute, Jacob Schulman made a run down the right wing past several defenders and crossed it. Jared Juleau was there to redirect it into the back of the net and give the Red Foxes a 1-0 lead.
  • Liam Salmon added to the lead in the 25th minute with an unassisted goal.
  • In the 70th minute Matt Newfield passed it to Juleau who received the ball right outside of the box, took a couple touches, and fired it into the back of the net.
  • In the 73rd minute, Schulman crossed it into the box and Newfield was there to finish it off with his head.
  • Mount Saint Mary's scored their only goal of the game off the foot of Jesus Salazar on a direct free kick in the 83rd minute.
