DeLAND, Florida – The Marist softball team closed out the Hatter Classic with a 4-1 loss against Harvard on Sunday morning.
The Red Foxes' five-game winning streak came to an end, as they finished play in the Hatter Classic at 4-1 after two wins apiece on Friday and Saturday. Marist is now 5-5 on the season.
- In the top of the second, Kaley Coltrain hit a double to give the Red Foxes on second and third, but they could not capitalize.
- In the bottom of the second, Kendall Jean hit a two-run homer to give Harvard a 2-0 lead.
- Marist got its only run of the game in the top of the third inning. Miah McDonald hit a two-out double down the left field line, bringing in Shea Walsh, who had reached on a one-out single.
- In the bottom of the fourth, Molly Dickerson hit a RBI double to give Harvard a 3-1 lead.
- Harvard closed out the scoring in the sixth. Teagan Shaw reached on a two-out error. Then Jean hit a RBI double to center field for her third RBI of the game.
- Harvard outhit Marist, 6-5.
- Hannah Brock reached safely twice for Marist with a hit and walk.
- Maddie Pleasants started and struck out four in 5.2 innings. Meghan Haff came on in relief to record the final out in the sixth.
- Next weekend the Red Foxes are in Hammond, Louisiana for the 2022 Lion Classic II where they will challenge Gardner-Webb, Southeastern Louisiana, and Buffalo.
- Marist will start with a pair of games Friday against Gardner-Webb (noon Eastern) and Southeastern Louisiana (6 p.m.).
