Marist Baseball Sweeps Fordham

Second Sweep of the Season for the Red Foxes

NEW YORK, New York- The Marist baseball team completed the weekend sweep of Fordham on Sunday, winning a 2-0 thriller.

Summary
  • Marist loaded the bases in the second inning and capitalized on a Marco Ali sacrifice fly, scoring Brian Hart to take a 1-0 lead. 
  • Gene Napolitano had an RBI-single shortly after to score Donnie Stone and give the Red Foxes their second run.
  • The Red Foxes had two hits in the top of the seventh, including a Reece Armitage double, but were unable to get a run across.
  • After cruising through the bottom of the seventh, Alex Pansini allowed two hits in the bottom of the 8th to force Brian Yetter out of the bullpen. Yetter got out of the jam by working a fly-out to end the inning 
  • In the bottom of the ninth, Drake Quinn was able to surrender the tying run on second to record his second save of the season and secure the 2-0 victory for Marist.

  • Pansini was dominant for the Red Foxes on the mound, throwing 7.2 scoreless innings while striking out eight to get his second win of the season.
  • Pansini, Yetter, and Quinn combined for ten strikeouts and only allowed 6 hits.
  • Napolitano led the Red Foxes with two hits and an RBI.
  • Both Armitages, Brian Hart, Gavin Noriega, Donnie Stone, and Marco Ali each collected a hit for Marist.
  • Reece Armitage hit for his fourth double of the season.
