POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist women's tennis team will be opening its Metro Atlantic Athletic conference season against Niagara on Saturday. The match was originally scheduled for a noon start time but is now set for 5 p.m. start at Cross Court.
 

LAST TIME OUT

• The Red Foxes played two matches over the weekend, with their first ending in a dominant win against Lafayette College, 6-1. In their second match of the weekend they fell to Fordham, 4-0. 

AGAINST LAFAYETTE

• In doubles, the Red Foxes lost the doubles point, with losses in the third and first position.
• In singles, the Red Foxes swept– taking the match with ease. Notable performances came from Deana Giambo in first position, who won her match, 4-6, 6-4, 10-8, and from Lea Lambert in fifth position, who won her match, 6-3, 6-0.

 

AGAINST FORDHAM

• In doubles, Fordham clinched the doubles point after losses from Marist in the third position and first position.
• In singles, the match was called early as Fordham clinched the game early with wins in the sixth, fifth, and third position.

 

SCOUTING NIAGARA

• This season, Niagara University is 3-10, with their most recent match ending in a 7-0 loss to the University of Buffalo, 7-0.
• Against the Purple Eagles, the Red Foxes are 13-9 overall.
• Their most recent meeting was a 4-3 victory for Marist on April 16, 2021.

• The Red Foxes are on the road to face off against Siena College. The match will be at 1 P.M. on Saturday, April 2nd in Loudonville, NY.
