POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist women's tennis team is set to play Siena in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match on Saturday, April 2. The Red Foxes match on Sunday against the Monmouth Hawks has been moved to Friday, April 8 at 4 p.m.
- The Red Foxes' start to their MAAC campaign is as good as it can get, defeating Niagara University in a solid showing, 5-2.
- In doubles, the Purple Eagles had a strong start, sweeping the Red Foxes in all positions.
- In singles, the Red Foxes showed that they weren't down for the count, and they took all but one of the six positions they played in (their only defeat came following the retiring of a set)
- Notable performances came in the first position, where Deana Giambo defeated Elena Mayet, 6-4, 6-4, and in the fifth position, where Lea Lambert came out on top in a close game against Mercedes Velasco, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5.
- The Siena Saints are currently 6-10, 1-0 in the MAAC this season.
- Their most recent match was a 6-1 defeat at the hand of UMass Amherst.
- Four of their players have collected 6 wins this season, and they are Meagan Brown (6-9), Jade Gautier (6-5), Anastasia Koniaev (6-6) and Nanea Perkins (6-8).
- Against the Saints, the Red Foxes are 18-4, with their most recent meeting ending in a 5-2 victory for Marist on March 30, 2019
