Strong Candelario Start, Great Offensive Production Lift Baseball

Red Foxes Take Game Two From Iona

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - Behind solid starting pitching and an offensive eruption, the Marist baseball team defeated Iona by a final score of 24-1 on Saturday afternoon to take game two of the teams' three-game weekend series.

 
Summary
  • Marist got the scoring started in the first inning when Robbie Armitage hit a two-run home run to left center. 

  • In the bottom of the fourth inning Dylan Hoy hit a two-RBI double to put the Red Foxes up 4-0. 

  • Gavin Noriega hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth to extend the lead to 6-0. 

  • Brian Hart singled in the bottom of the seventh to bring in two more runs and make it 8-0. Hoy followed that up with an RBI single to center field. Then Marco Ali and Reece Armitage each hit a two-RBI single. Robbie Armitage then hit his second homer of the day with a three-run shot to push the lead to 16-0. Peter Dudunakis kept it rolling with an RBI single and then Danny Moshier got a two-RBI single to make it 19-0. Marco Ali scored the 20th run of the day for the Red Foxes after a passed ball. Devin Boone capped the inning off with a triple down the right field line to bring in two more runs and make it 22-0. 

  • Iona got their first and only run of the game with an RBI double in the top of the eighth. 

  • In the bottom of the eighth Dylan Hoy hit a two-run home run to make the score 24-1.
