Red Foxes Pick Up Second Straight Weekend Sweep

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist baseball team rallied behind a dominant start form Alex Pansini to take game three from Iona and complete their second straight weekend sweep, as the Red Foces earned a 7-0 win over Ions on Sunday..

Summary
  • Gene Napolitano led the bottom half of the first off with a double and later scored on a Robbie Armitage RBI-single to put the Red Foxes up 1-0 early.
  • In the bottom of the fourth, Brian Hart laced a triple down the right field line to score Robbie Armitage, and then scored on a passed ball to give Marist a 3-0 lead.
  • Iona threatened in the fifth, but a tremendous double play by Marco Ali and Dylan Hoy ended the inning.
  • Still only leading 3-0 heading into the eighth inning, Dylan Hoy reached on an error which scored two runs. Hesd coach Chris Tracz then went to his bench as Peter Dudunakis got a pinch-hitting opportunity and took advantage, homering over the left field wall to extend the lead to 7-0.
