Baseball Takes Mid-Week from St. John's

Red Foxes Have Now Won Seven Straight

POMONA, New York - The Marist baseball team won its seventh straight game on Tuesday on the road against St. John's. After going up 3-0 early, the Red Foxes nearly surrendered the lead, but pulled away with four runs in the sixth inning.

Summary
  • The Red Foxes got on the board early with a Brian Hart double in the top of the second. After two straight outs, Niko Amory came up clutch with an RBI-single through the left side to put the Red Foxes up 1-0. 
  • In the top of the fifth, Gavin Noriega doubled down the left field line to score Reece Armitage from second and give Marist a 2-0 lead. Later that inning, Brian Hart hit a sacrifice fly to score Noriega to take a 3-0 lead.
  • In the bottom of the fifth, St. John's cut the lead to one with a two run home run. 
  • In the top of the sixth, Marco Ali came in clutch with a two RBI single to score Niko Amory and Dylan Hoy. Later that inning, Robbie Armitage hit a sacrifice fly to score Ali, and Reece Armitage scored on a wild pitch to give Marist a 7-2 lead.
  • The Red Foxes bullpen held the St. John's offense scoreless after the fifth inning.
