Marist Baseball Wins Game Two Against Saint Peter's

Red Foxes Extend Nation's Longest Win Streak to 10

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - Marist baseball rallied from behind early to take game two from Saint Peter's by a final score of 11-4.

Marist now holds the longest active win streak in the country with 10 consecutive wins.

Summary
  • After a scoreless first half inning from Erubiel Candelario, Gavin Noriega gave Marist a 1-0 lead with an RBI single to score Robbie Armitage.
  • In the top of the third, Saint Peter's got two runs across via a walk and an error, giving them their first lead of the day. Marist took no time responding in the bottom, tying the game on an RBI single from Johnny Decker to score Robbie Armitage.
  • Marist erupted for four runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a 6-2 lead. The inning started with Marco Ali's first career home run, then Gavin Noriega single to score Reece Armitage gave Marist a 4-2 lead. Next at-bat, Brian Hart hit his sixth triple of the year to score two runs. Hart is now tied for the MAAC lead for triples this season. 
  • Hart continued his hot hitting in the bottom of the sixth, hitting a single for his third RBI of the day, giving Marist a 7-2 lead.
  • Marist scored its final four runs in the seventh, which was capped by a two-run single by Gene Napolitano.

  • Erubiel Candelario picked up his MAAC leading eighth win of the season, throwing six innings allowing just one run and striking out four batters.
  • Reece and Robbie Armitage each scored three runs on the day. Robbie added two hits and Reece added one in the victory. 
  • Brian Hart went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a triple, leading the Red Foxes offensively. Marco Ali, Johnny Decker, and Gene Napolitano also added two hits apiece. 
  • Gavin Noriega ended the game with three hits, two RBIs, and a run scored.
