Marist Baseball Completes Series Sweep of Saint Peter's

Red Foxes Extend Nation's Longest Active Win Streak to 11

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - Marist baseball capped off its Senior Day celebration with a series sweep over Saint Peter's, winning on Sunday by a score of 11-1.

With the win, Marist extends the countries longest active winning streak to 11 games.

Summary
  • The Red Foxes got on the board first with a Brian Hart sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first inning, scoring Reece Armitage. Anthony Abbatine grounded into a fielders choice, pushing a run across to tie the game in the top of the second at one a piece. 
  • After a scoreless second inning, Brian Hart collected his seventh RBI of the series with a double to score Reece Armitage. Next at-bat, Peter Dudunakis roped a double to score Hart and give the Red Foxes a 3-1 lead entering the fourth.
  • The next inning, Marco Ali singled through the left side to score Donnie Stone, and later scored himself on a double from Robbie Armitage to put Marist up 5-1.
  • In the bottom of the sixth, Robbie Armitage hit his second double of the day, again scoring Marco Ali and giving Marist a 6-1 advantage entering the seventh inning. 
  • In the bottom of the eighth, the Red Foxes kept the foot on the gas, sending two home runs over the left field wall. Robbie Armitage hit a two run home run, and then Niko Amory followed it up with a walk-off mercy rule three-run home run.
Key Stats
  • Alex Pansini was phenomenal, throwing 7.0 innings allowing just one run, five hits, and striking out seven en route to his eighth win of the year. Pansini is now tied with Erubiel Candelario for the most wins in the MAAC.
  • Robbie Armitage dominated at the plate, going 4-for-5 with two doubles, a two-run home run, and four RBIs. Niko Amory also had two hits, including a two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth. 
  • Brian Hart also had two hits, a double, and two RBIs on the afternoon. He finished the weekend with seven RBIs in the series.
  • Donnie Stone and Marco Ali also both collected two hits in the victory.

  • Marist wraps up the regular season with a midweek matchup at Central Connecticut State on Tuesday, with first pitch slated for 2 p.m.
  • The Red Foxes conclude the MAAC season with a 17-5 record in conference, and now stand at 29-14 overall.
