Baseball Defeats Rider on the Road

Red Foxes Now Tied For Fourth Longest Win Streak in Country

LAWRENCEVILLE, New Jersey - Despite Mother Nature having other plans on Friday and Saturday, Marist and Rider were finally able to play baseball on Sunday afternoon. The Red Foxes took down Rider by a final score of 13-1 to win their eighth straight game. 

Marist is now tied for the fourth longest current win streak in the country with eight consecutive wins.

Summary
  • Niko Amory extended his hit streak to seven games with an RBI-single to score Gavin Noriega in the second inning.
  • In the third inning, Noriega and Brian Hart each had RBIs to give Marist an early 3-0 lead.
  • The Red Foxes scored six runs on six hits in the top of the fourth inning to extend their lead to 9-0. Reece Armitage had a two-RBI double, Noriega and Hart had RBI singles, and Johnny Decker singled in two runs in the inning. In the bottom half of the inning, a bases loaded walk gave Rider their first run of the afternoon.
  • The Red Foxes kept pouring it on, capitalizing on a Marco Ali RBI double and Gene Napolitano single to take an 11-1 lead.
  • Napolitano wasn't done there as the graduate student singled in the top of the ninth to score Dylan Hoy. Reece Armitage would later reach on a fielders choice that scored Peter Dudunakis as Marist took down Rider 13-1.
