POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist volleyball team were defeated by Fairfield in straight sets, 3-0 on Sunday at McCann Arena, as the Red Foxes winning streak came to an end.
Marist lost by scores of 28-26, 25-18, 25-15.
- The Red Foxes jumped out to a 15-13 lead; Fairfield clawed their way back to tie the score at 23-23.
- Marist ended up losing the set by a score of 28-26.
- Sasha van der Merwe led the team with 7 kills and teammate McKinley Fox lead the team with 12 assists in the first set.
- To start the second set, Fairfield jumped out to a 11-5 lead. The Red Foxes never gave as they went on a 7-0 run to even the score. Fairfield ended up winning the second set by a score of 25-18.
- The third set was all Fairfield as they ended the game on a 15-2 run to end the game as they won the third set 25-15.
- The kills leader for the Red Foxes was Sasha van der Merwe with 15. McKinley Fox finished the game with 25 assists.
- The Red Foxes are set to face Quinnipiac Sunday September 25th. After tomorrow's matchup, the Red Foxes will travel to play a two game New Jersey stint against conference teams in Saint Peter's and Rider on October 1 & 2.
